Lush Cosmetics Review

File 30-08-2017, 16 53 37.jpeg

Its not easy to resist going in lush when you walk past. well,  that is unless you are coughing uncontrollably fighting for breath before you even see the shop sign. I am one of those people who can’t resist. It’s crammed full of natural, cruelty free handmade cosmetics for every part of your body from your scalp to your feet. The staff are super friendly and full of knowledge. The only problem I have is deciding what to get.

I love love love the fresh face masks and have done a blog on them before (use this link to read it.) so, this time I wanted to try a few different products. After god knows how long smelling and testing everything this is what I got …

Jason And The Argan Oil  Shampoo Bar

File 30-08-2017, 16 50 04.jpeg

£6.95

Argan Oil – Repairing and Antioxidant

Organic Rose – Balancing and Restoring

Sicilian Lemon Oil – Uplifting and Cleansing

Geranium Oil –  Balancing and Toning

As soon as the lush lady said it had rose in it I was sold, It smells amazing. She continued to promise it would strengthen and add shine to my hair but if im honest I decided I would love it just for the smell.

So the idea with bars are you can either lather up in your hands then apply to hair or just use the bar straight on the scalp. They are a little like soap bars. You want to keep them dry after use though. The water kind of activates them so the water will eat away at the bar. I got one of the lush tins to keep it in (£2.50) Not only to keep it dry but to keep it clean and is perfect for if your travelling.

I found the best way to use it was in the shower. I would soak my hair then turn the shower off and use the bar. It foams up quickly and smells amazing!! After a good scrub, I put the bar back in the tin and rinsed off. If you have short hair you could use the bar straight on your scalp. For longer hair I would recommend lathering up on your hands then using on roots and ends. You are causing less friction which helps to prevent breakage.

I have a dry scalp and find a lot of products can dry my skin out even more , making it feel tight and itchy. I found with this shampoo bar my scalp didn’t feel tight or itchy at all.  My hair felt amazing when I was drying it off. silky soft shiny hair. It felt really clean and I have noticed since using this shampoo bar my hair can go an extra day without washing it! The only down side was I couldn’t really smell it on my hair after. Other then that I really like this. Would I buy it again? Im really not sure if im honest. Not that I didn’t like it, I just like to try other products. But I would definitely recommend it. Looking forwards to trying the other Lush shampoo bars.

Seanik Shampoo Bar

File 21-08-2017, 19 11 44.jpeg

£6.25

Nori Seaweed – Nutrient Rich

Iris Moss Gel – Softening and Soothing

Lemon Oil – Cleansing and Uplifting

Fine Sea Salt – Mineral Rich

So.. I didn’t buy this for me. Just as well because my scalp HATED it. It was itchy straight after I washed it. One tiny little scratch and my hairline looked like a snow storm.  Back in the shower…

But as I said I didn’t buy it for me. The lady in the shop recommended it for Dreadlocks. Well, you have to get your other half something right? It helps to soften the blow when you tell them how much you spent.

He prefers natural, organic products that don’t leave any residue. We’ve ticked all those boxes by just buying from Lush. He used the  bar straight on his scalp and a little down the length on the dreads, Good scrub and a long, long rinse.

The first thing we both noticed was how clear and hydrated his scalp was! It had already made a difference. His hair was fresh and clean without any sticky residue left on the dreads. What else is there to say. I hated it, he LOVED it!

Damaged Hot Oil Treatment

File 02-09-2017, 18 46 30

£6.50

Organic Avocado – Rich and Conditioning

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Moisturising and Protecting

So who hasn’t damaged their hair through excessive bleaching and use of heat with straighteners and tongs. My hair really does need all the help it can get. This treatment promises to moisturise and help to strengthen.

Its a one use pre-shampoo product that you need to activate with water. All you need to do is add hot water and stir.

Wait for it to cool to a comfortable temperature and apply to dry hair.

File 02-09-2017, 21 07 10

After about 20 mins shampoo and condition hair. I didn’t use all the product so I put the lid on and it will keep for up to 4 weeks.

It was really easy to rinse out of my hair. I noticed while I was drying it how soft it was. It was a lot less tangled on my more damaged bits of hair then it is usually is.

My hair felt Amazing.. I could not stop touching it all day. It had a faint smell to it and was super soft and shiny.. soo shiny. My scalp feels good. Its not tight and itchy.  Even after a few washes it felt really soft.

I really liked this. I would get it again and use after I have had it coloured. Cant wait to try their other treatments

Foot Soak And Fancy Free

File 30-08-2017, 16 47 57.jpeg

£3.95

Sea Salt – Rich in Minerals

Irish Moss Powder – Conditioning and Softening.

French Lavender oil – Calming and softening.

There is nothing worse then wearing pretty shoes that show hard skin build up on your heels. I hate it. So its essential you have regular pedicures to keep feet looking their best.

Find a bowl that will fit both your feet in then add water. You want the water to be at a temperature you can relax in. Find a good vlog/programme you can watch then add the foot soak. I broke it up so it would dissolve quicker.

File 30-08-2017, 17 17 16.jpeg

Its definitely relaxing. Perfect excuse to do nothing.

After about 5 mins take out one foot at a time and use a foot file on areas that need it. Put feet back in for as long as the water is warm. Once finished pat feet dry.

My feet are so soft! Im not saying its going to magically remove your hard skin build up but it will help by softening the skin making it easier to remove.

Its a good product for a bit of home pampering and it does everything it promises. I wouldn’t say it would be a new essential to my beauty treatment collection but well worth trying.

Golden Handshake Hand Treatment

File 02-09-2017, 21 35 01.jpeg

£2.95

Organic Avocado – Rich and Conditioning

Rosewood Oil – Anti septic and Up Lifting

Murumuru Butter – Protective and Moisturising

Argan Oil – Repairing and a Antioxident

This is another water activated treatment product. Designed to hydrated dry, hard working hands. I don’t really look after my hands. so they could do with a little pampering.

File 08-09-2017, 18 27 11.jpeg

Find a bowl big enough to fit both hands, add enough hot water to cover the product and stir until its a smooth, thick and creamy consistency. Like with the other products wait until its cooled to a comfortable temperature then sit back and relax…

Before you rinse off massage into hands.

My hands felt lovely and soft and stayed like it for a few days.

So This was my least favourite product. It was nice enough and my hands did feel lovely but, Im just not sure its a product I would use again.

Bunny Moon – Jelly face mask

File 02-09-2017, 21 40 23

£6.95

Honey – Antiseptic and Moisturising

Rose oil – To Balance and Restore

As I mentioned before I love the fresh face masks So im really looking forward to trying one of the jelly masks. I picked bunny moon as this one softens and moisturises.

Take a little product and work a little with your fingers to a paste. Apply to face and leave for 10 mins.

The first time I used this I wet my hands first. BIG mistake!

Its got a nice subtle smell of Turkish delight. Once you’ve worked it a little it becomes a smooth thick paste which is easy to apply. Because its a thick paste you need a face cloth to take it off with.

My face is really soft and hydrated.  This is really good for dehydrated skin. My dry,  patches of skin on my cheeks and nose have gone. I use it a least once a week and the patches havn’t come back since. I wouldn’t say its my favourite Lush mask but there are so many . Just not sure which one to try next…

So thats what I thought. Any recomendations? let me know if you’ve tried any and what you think of them

Lush Cosmetics Facial Review

File 22-07-2016, 18 22 00

Who doesn’t love Lush Cosmetics? I cant go past a store without going in. I’ve already done a Lush Fresh Mask Review but this post is about using Lush products for a once a week deep cleaning facial.

So here’s what I used and what I thought.

Firstly you want to make sure you’ve removed all your make up. This will allow the products to work more efficiently.

I started with

File 17-08-2016, 19 31 25

9-5 Cleansing lotion

95g – £5.25

Almond Oil – To soothe and hydrate

Fresh Dove Orchid Extract – To help clear skin

YlangYlang Oil – To Calm and Relax

I used about a ten pence piece of 9-5Cleanser  and massaged into my face using small circular motions.  Making sure to massage well into oily prone areas like the sides of your nose. Remove with cotton pads.

I really liked this cleanser. I didn’t think it was very greasy feeling but made my skin feel really hydrated and clean. And it smells lovely.

I would get this again but i wouldn’t recommend if you wanted to use it as a heavy make up remover, you’ll use a lot of product. But for a morning and weekly cleanser I loved it.

next I used

LushPic

Dark Angels

100g £7.25

Charcoal – to exfoliate

Rhassoul – Absorbs excess sebum & draws out impurities

Avacado – To Hydrate

To activate this product you need to add a little water to turn it into a paste. Apply and massage in small circular motions. Rinse with plenty of warm water.

I think this is probably more of a facial scrub then a cleanser. That’s what i use it for. Exfoliating helps to remove the dead skin cells which can make your skin look cloggy and dull. The Black sugar is great for exfoliating. I don’t think its too harsh and I  would use this a couple of times a week.

It can be a messy product. It doesn’t stain but it does leave water marks.

My skin feels really clean after using Dark Angels its defintley one of my favorite Lush products.

TeaTree

Tea Tree Toner Tab

5g tablet £1

TeaTree Oil – Antibacterial & Antiseptic

Aloe Vera – Rejuvenate and Hydrate

Drop the Tablet into a bowl of hot water (Hot enough to have steam) be careful, you don’t want to burn yourself.

The tablet does fizz a little, lean over the bowl and cover with a towel to trap the steam in.

There isn’t an over powering smell of Tea Tree but you can smell it.

after a 5 -10mins put the water to one side.

I really liked the Tea Tree Toner Tab, its only £1 and I would pay more for it. I would get it every time I go in there.

I used the Dark  Angels on my face again. Now my pores are open after the steaming the scrub / cleanser can absorb any dirt in my pores which could later cause blackheads.

Rinse off with warm water.

Next is

File 17-08-2016, 19 21 02

Cosmetic Warrior

75G  £6.95

Garlic – Deep Cleanse

TeaTree – Antiseptic

Honey – Moisturising

So this mask really smells of Garlic. I don’t hate it enough to not use the rest of the pot, I just won’t buy it again and will probably moan about the smell while its on.

Its a Thick creamy consistency with a few garlic pieces.

It doesn’t dry hard so makes it easier to get off. My skin did feel a little tighter after using it but its not one i will get again. It was mostly the smell of Cosmetic Warrior I didn’t like.

After that’s been rinsed off with warm water, I go back to the Tea Tree water.

Soak a couple of cotton pads in the water and wipe over face, toning the skin before applying moisturiser  if you think you need it.

With the rest of the water I add a few drops of TeaTree oil and put it in a plastic spritz bottle and use as a daily toner. which will last me a week.

I really liked these products (except the smell of the mask) and have a new favorite with the dark angels cleanser. They are all good value for money especially the toner tab. Don’t forget when you have 5 pots you can trade them for a free Fresh Mask      xx

Lush Fresh Mask Review

File 03-06-2016, 23 17 22I am obsessed with skincare. Anything that promises to even out and perfect my complexion, I’m happy to give a ago. Particularly if its fresh and organic. I love Lush Cosmetics. Fresh Homemade affordable cosmetics from a company who pride themselves on being against animal testing. They have a wide range of cosmetics from hair care to pedicures. You all know the high street stores, you can smell them before you see it. Their stores are always packed with shoppers testing out the products and eager sales assistants armed full of information about their products and ingredients . And as a little bonus if you return 5 clean full size pots or tubes you get a free fresh mask!

The masks need to be kept in the fridge to maintain their freshness and will last around 3 weeks. Don’t worry they come with a best before sticker.

I use them 2-3 times a week. I remove my make up and exfoliate (you don’t have to, but I do to remove any dead skin and to allow the product to work more effectively) and cleanse. I also put them on while I’m in the bath. It makes it so much easier and less messy to take them off.

So here’s what I thought….

Mask of Magnaminty

125g   £5.75

Honey – Antiseptic

Peppermint – Removes dirt build up

African Marigold oil – Anti-Inflammatory

Green, thick, slightly lumpy with a Strong Peppermint fragrance (almost enough to make your eyes water). Not to messy to apply, but it is thick so you end up putting a lot on. While its on it does feel slightly tingly but nothing unbearable. It does dry out a little during the 10mins but doesn’t completely set.

I found it easier to massage the mask with wet hands just before I take it off. It breaks down the mask a little easier and then just keep rinsing.

My skin did look cleaner, refreshed and moisturised. Angry spots seemed calmer and skin felt a little tighter.

I did like this mask. I think if you have acne prone skin you’ll love it. The peppermint was too much for me. so it isn’t my favourite of the masks.

File 03-06-2016, 23 17 54Cupcake

75g   £6.75

Vanilla – Calm’s redness

Spearmint oil – Tones skin

Rhassoul mud – Deep cleansing

Dark, chocolaty thick and smooth. With a slight refreshing smell of spearmint.

Due to it being so thick it is a little difficult to evenly apply to your skin and is a little messy. Once its on it dries quickly. You get a little tightening sensation but its all quite nice.

Again I massaged this with a little water after 10mins to break down the mask. And then used plenty of water to rinse it off.

I noticed my skin felt tighter and softer.  It felt clean and clear. The more I used this,  the smaller my pores seemed.

This  was originally designed for teenagers to help with breakouts and absorb oil. I loved it. I also felt my skin was well hydrated for a couple of days after using.

Rosey CheeksFile 02-06-2016, 23 31 20

75g   £6.75

Calamine – Soothing

Kaolin clay  – Removes dirt and impurities

Rose – Nourish and tone

This smells Amazing!! I love it just for the smell.

Its a thick pink clay like consistency and smells so beautiful. Once its on its so relaxing. No tingling or tightening. just this amazing rose smell

Once i washed it off my skin felt amazing. Soft but a little matte and did i mention the smell..

I loved this mask yes mostly because of the fragrance but also it hydrated and softened my skin. If I used the mask during the day and then applied make up I felt my skin looked smoother and make up lasted a little longer. Although I do usually put the masks on in the evenings as it gives my skin a chance to breathe.

Ayesha

75g   £6.75

Kiwi Fruit – Cleanse and brighten

Asparagus – For its nutrients

Fullers Earth – Absorbs oil

Rosemary oil – Antiseptic

Greyish, Greenish colour with a fresh fragrance. Not as dense and thick as the other masks so much easier to apply. This one is said to ‘smooth away wrinkles’ so I’m happy to smother it on!

As the mask dries, your skin absorbs what it needs and it looks patchy. I left it on a little longer then recommended and it made it a little harder to get off.

My skin did seem a little smoother in appearance and a little brighter but it didnt feel as clean and moisturised as the others. As for the wrinkles i do think it helped with some of the finer lines. Overall i felt it was more of a general relaxing face mask rather then compared to other which were more targeted to specific problems.

File 03-06-2016, 23 18 17

Over all I would say my skin seems more smoother, hydrated and cleaner since using Lush FreshFace Masks . I’ve enjoyed using all of them. some I would definitely  buy again and some i wouldn’t as they just wasn’t suited to my skin.

let me know what you think of the masks or any you would recommend xx
