GlamGlow BubbleSheet Mask

If you haven’t already heard of GlamGlow, let me fill you in.

Glam Glow was designed specifically for A Listers who were in need of  a product that would make them instantly camera ready. It was soon used by most of Hollywood and eventually was available for retail in 2011. Their Super Mud treatment became a success in retail and earned plenty of beauty awards. GlamGlow have continued to grow their brand adding more treatments which has had just as much success.

When this first popped up on GlamGlow Instagram account I couldn’t wait to try it. A quick and easy sheet mask promising to detox my face in 3 mins… Take my money!

As tempting as it is to try their other new products I really have enough to get through at the moment. Beside, every purchase comes with 2 free samples so that’s enough to keep my skincare addiction going for now.

So what is this new bubblesheet?

File 21-01-2018, 21 42 09.jpeg

oxygenating deep cleanse mask with green tea works to reveal glowing, deeply purified skin in just three minutes. Upon application, this bamboo charcoal-infused sheet mask activates an oxygenating and tingling 3D bubbling experience that instantly invigorates, detoxifies, and removes face makeup.

So the instructions are to dampen face then apply, smoothing it down. Leave for about 3 mins. After you have removed the mask, massage in the remaining bubbles. Rinse and pat dry face. Easy enough.

File 21-01-2018, 21 42 34.jpeg

The mask was a little tingly while it was on. Not uncomfortable and its not like its on long. There wasn’t really a smell to it. Its a creamy foam texture so was nice to massage in. Its a quick and easy face detox with no mess.

File 21-01-2018, 21 43 02.jpeg

My face feels like its had a good clean. I wouldn’t say it was glowing but I do think it would be really good for oily skin types as my skin feels a bit matte. I would still use a moisturiser as my skin is a bit dehydrated generally –  just not straight away. Maybe leave for about 20mins to breath a little. If your wanting to apply make up make sure you use a primer. Im sure it will give you a nice smooth base to apply products too.

For £7 its not a terrible price.  Im not sure I love it enough for it to become an essential part of my skincare routine every week but,  its something I would use again. Its one of my favourite detoxifying sheet mask’s. And I have used a few…

The Ordinary

The Ordinary are part of a larger company, Deciem- Focusing on advanced functional beauty. The brand come together to create effective, honest skincare at honourable prices. Their prices start at £3.90 for a primer and go up to around £15 – something for everyone’s budget.

They first become popular with the launch of their Retinoids, mainly because of it’s price £4.20 – £11.90 for 30ml . They quickly sold out and left many beauty addicts desperate to get their hands on some. But the brand took it in their stride, completed the ever increasing pre-orders and continued to increase their brand.

They don’t waste their time and money on fancy  sounding additives to make it smell nice or useless ingredients to maker it sound more innovative. They continue to believe in CLINICAL FORMULATIONS WITH INTEGRITY meaning, they  produce affordable, proven skincare with honest chemistry proven to work.

On each page on their site they clearly display whats not in it ie no Parabens no Silicone etc complete transparency with their ingredients and cost’s. They also do not test on animals. Which, is why they do not sell in china as sadly in order to qualify for selling they insist on their own testing which involves testing on animals. – good on you Deciem!

A quick run down of the products I have been using

100% Plant Derived Squalane

£5.90

30ml

Is a non – comedogenic hydrator  suitable for all skin types.

For me this was the first product I had used. I liked everything about it. Since the first time using it my skin was instantly more hydrated. No dry itchy, flakey skin, just healthy, glowing skin. It is easily absorbed into skin so doesn’t feel too greasy. I was a little concerned about my make up slipping but with a primer I found it was no problem at all.

Its also the only thing I really use on my hair. It helps to protect hair from heat and breakage, making it super soft and shiny. I will be honest.. I Don’t really use it on my face as much now, If I do, its more likely to be in the evening but that really is as I am now using the Hyaluronic Acid

Caffeine Solution 5% +EGCG

File 12-01-2018, 19 40 15.jpeg5.80

30ml

I have not stopped using this since I got it. Both AM and PM I honestly think it reduces under eye puffiness. Its no miracle cure and it doesn’t do much for the darkness under eye but concealer can fix that.

You only need 1 drop under each eye and is quickly absorbed into skin. For 30 ml this will last a long time

Argireline Soluition 10%

File 14-01-2018, 17 59 17

£5.50

30ml

Light weight serum to ease fine lines on forehead and around eyes. Apply a couple of drops both AM and PM. So I find this works OK. Its not my fav product from the ordinary but I do still continue to use it.. Maybe I need to be using it longer to see more results. I paid £5.50 and based on my experience of their other products I am more then happy to continue to use it. If this is something you are using let me know what you think.

Hyaluronic Acid 2%+B5

I wrote bout this amazing little product in my last blog post What is Hyaluronic Acid?

Lactic Acid 5%+HA

File 14-01-2018, 17 59 34.jpeg

£5.50

30ml

For very mild exfoliation. But, not to be used on sensitive or peeling skin. The Ordinary suggest you don’t use indirect forms of skin exfoliation while using this product.

You use it daily, ideally at night as it can leave skin UV sensitive due to the Alpha Hydroxy Acid – limit sun exposure for a week after using. Which can make it ideal for winter skincare routine. You can add it to other skin care until skin builds a tolerance.

So if i’m honest, I have only used this once. I really didn’t like the smell of it. Although I don’t think it would put me off from using it , I just haven’t fully committed to it as I still continue to use other exfoliating products. Will keep you updated when I do decide to try it.

 High Adherence Silicone Primer

File 14-01-2018, 18 40 08.jpeg

£3.90

30ml

This essential uses advanced adaptive silicones to act as a matte, hydrating, blurring primer for makeup that looks higher in definition and adheres for longer.

I have not used another primer since. It feels lovely to put on and instantly smooths and blurs. £3.90 is so cheap, you can afford to try it without it making a dent in your bank balance. I don’t really have anything else to say except YOU NEED TO TRY THIS… did I mention the price!

Niacinamide 10%+Zinc 1%

File 14-01-2018, 18 48 51

£5

30ml

High strength vitamin and mineral blemish formula. This is not going to magically make your acne disappear but what it will do is maintain skin to help with congestion and help to balance skins sebum. As soon as you use it skin instantly becomes matte.

I think generally my skin has been looking clearer and brighter since using The Ordinary products. If you find you have oily skin this is going to be the product for you. I don’t use it every day now, probably every other day as my skin is more dehydrated then congested.

As I mentioned earlier. My skin has been looking better since using these products. They are a little hard to understand initially but the site does have a Regime guide so its worth spending a few moments looking at it to see what your skin would benefit from. I also have seen great customer service on their social media accounts. Any questions posted quickly come with a educational  response from the company. Any question, head to their Instagram page and comment.

Have you used any of the products and what do you think?

What is Hyaluronic Acid?

No doubt this is a question you have been asking for a while now as it is being used in more skincare products and its doing the rounds on social media. But  What is it? What does it do? and should you be using it?

I will keep it short but, Firstly, its not as scary as it sounds. I think the word acid makes it a little daunting. Hyaluronic Acid (HA) is a substance found naturally in our bodies. It has mainly be used to help skin heal from wounds, burns and skin ulcers. However the beauty industry quickly adopted it and starting using it as lip fillers. Now its integrating its way into our daily skincare routine.

It is claimed it can help fight signs of aging – over time fine lines and wrinkles will become less visable. Skin is said to be more hydrated, plumper and youthful.

Many products claim to help with hydration but they are usually made with less then 1% HA and the molecule its self is too large to be absorbed into the skin. Rather then hydrating and working its magic, the product is just sitting on the surface of the skin and drawing out the moisture.

So, to sum it up, HA is a product that will hydrate and plum up skin. It is very much worth adding as part of your skincare but you really do need to find a good one

I would 100% recommend

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2%+B5

File 07-01-2018, 13 56 20.jpeg

£5.90

30ml

This Formula uses three forms of HA with crosspolymer, to offer multi-depth hydration & visible plumping without drawing water out of the skin

Look at the price again £5.90 – and delivers results.  Its very concentrated so you only need 1-2 drops. Use in the morning and evening before heavier creams. Or, add to other formulations or water.

It is a little tacky when you first apply but don’t worry. Its absorbs into the skin after a few mins and leaves your skin soft, plump and brighter. Since I have been using this I have noticed how much more hydrated my skin is. It doesn’t feel tight and itchy like it normally does and I haven’t had any dry flakey skin patches on my nose or cheeks. If i’m honest I haven’t noticed much difference in my fine lines. But I will be paying more attention so, fingers crossed

Its alcohol, oil, silicone, nut and cruelty free. And, suitable for vegans.

I cant say enough good things about this company and their products but don’t worry, that will all be in the next blog post. But this is a great place to start with The Ordinary products or just a new updated addition to your daily skincare routine.

Soap And Glory Face Mask Review

The Soap and Glory brand have been around since 2006 and became quickly known for their iconic super plumping SEXY MOTHER PUCKER gloss. The brand covers bath, body, make up, hair and skincare. Available on line or exclusively to boots and a price range that will suit any budget.

Ive never tried any of their skincare and thought would probably be easier to start with their masks.

I  have combination skin. so I get dry patches on my cheeks, forehead and some times on the top of my nose. But I also have oily patches too.. On my chin and sides of my nose. Nothing too distressing.

The masks I thought would suit me better were…

Purifying De-clog mask

File 05-11-2017, 18 55 06.jpeg

2 applications

£4

The mask promises to lift out all the dirt and impurities that can clog skin.

Firstly, the scoop thing is ridiculous just chuck it out, use a brush to get it on evenly. Not too thick you don’t want it dripping everywhere for the first few mins before it sets. Its bright pink and there is so much product in these little pods.

It was fine on. No itching or tingling. I left it on half an hour. Wait for the mask to completely set before trying to take it off. It will make it easier to come off in one motion.

File 05-11-2017, 19 01 14.jpeg

It does pull a little when taking off but nothing more then is to be expected. It all came off in one go so that made life a little easier.

I wasn’t blown away by how much it removed. It does help to lift the dead dull skin off but it didn’t seem to remove any blackheads. Ive used other products before that were slightly more expensive but I think done a better job. So for me I wouldn’t buy this again.

Radiance Boosting Mask

File 05-11-2017, 22 02 26.jpeg

Sheet mask

£3.50

‘multi tasking sheet mask solution for dull-tired and stressed-looking complexions’. Who doesn’t need that in their life?

Pretty simple as with all sheet masks. Carefully unwrap and apply to face.

well, mine wasn’t that easy. I really struggled to unwrap the mask and ripped it a few times. I managed to get it pieced on and it stayed on the full 20 mins. But it was so fiddly I nearly just threw it away.

It was fine on. No tingling or itchy and it did have a strong smell of grapefruit. Considering it had ripped in a few places I am surprised it stayed on!

Im not a fan of this mask. I didn’t feel it done anything except enlarge my pores.

My skin didn’t feel radiant, its just felt like loads of product sitting on my skin. I used a couple of cotton pads to remove some of the product then, massaged the rest into my skin, After about half hour my skin felt a little dry and itchy so, I put my usual moisturiser on.

Under Eye Brightening Hydrogel Patches

File 12-11-2017, 18 21 42

£3.50

Soap and Glory’s promises to ‘smooth, revitalise, brighten and moisturise’.

We are all looking for a product that will magically take away the puffy darkness from under our eyes but I have to say I am not very optimistic as the other masks are not for me. I was going to put it in the fridge before using it as that will help to reduce puffiness but I forgot…

So open up the packet and remove the under eye patches from thier little platic holder. Remove the backing and stick to your under eye area. These stayed in place for the whole half our I was very impressed. They were no problem, forgot they were on.

Out of the 3 products I brought this was the best one.

They were easy to use and I did feel they reduced some under eye puffiness. I didn’t put any make up on after using these as I was having a no make up day and the results lasted all day. I would get these again. They were very cheap, so great for any budget, available locally at boots and they actually do what the packaging promises.

Overall I probably wouldn’t try any other skin care products from Soap and Glory. I did like the under eye patches but don’t think the other mask’s were any good for me.

Have you tried any Soap and Glory products? would you recommend any?

Lush Cosmetics Review

File 30-08-2017, 16 53 37.jpeg

Its not easy to resist going in lush when you walk past. well,  that is unless you are coughing uncontrollably fighting for breath before you even see the shop sign. I am one of those people who can’t resist. It’s crammed full of natural, cruelty free handmade cosmetics for every part of your body from your scalp to your feet. The staff are super friendly and full of knowledge. The only problem I have is deciding what to get.

I love love love the fresh face masks and have done a blog on them before (use this link to read it.) so, this time I wanted to try a few different products. After god knows how long smelling and testing everything this is what I got …

Jason And The Argan Oil  Shampoo Bar

File 30-08-2017, 16 50 04.jpeg

£6.95

Argan Oil – Repairing and Antioxidant

Organic Rose – Balancing and Restoring

Sicilian Lemon Oil – Uplifting and Cleansing

Geranium Oil –  Balancing and Toning

As soon as the lush lady said it had rose in it I was sold, It smells amazing. She continued to promise it would strengthen and add shine to my hair but if im honest I decided I would love it just for the smell.

So the idea with bars are you can either lather up in your hands then apply to hair or just use the bar straight on the scalp. They are a little like soap bars. You want to keep them dry after use though. The water kind of activates them so the water will eat away at the bar. I got one of the lush tins to keep it in (£2.50) Not only to keep it dry but to keep it clean and is perfect for if your travelling.

I found the best way to use it was in the shower. I would soak my hair then turn the shower off and use the bar. It foams up quickly and smells amazing!! After a good scrub, I put the bar back in the tin and rinsed off. If you have short hair you could use the bar straight on your scalp. For longer hair I would recommend lathering up on your hands then using on roots and ends. You are causing less friction which helps to prevent breakage.

I have a dry scalp and find a lot of products can dry my skin out even more , making it feel tight and itchy. I found with this shampoo bar my scalp didn’t feel tight or itchy at all.  My hair felt amazing when I was drying it off. silky soft shiny hair. It felt really clean and I have noticed since using this shampoo bar my hair can go an extra day without washing it! The only down side was I couldn’t really smell it on my hair after. Other then that I really like this. Would I buy it again? Im really not sure if im honest. Not that I didn’t like it, I just like to try other products. But I would definitely recommend it. Looking forwards to trying the other Lush shampoo bars.

Seanik Shampoo Bar

File 21-08-2017, 19 11 44.jpeg

£6.25

Nori Seaweed – Nutrient Rich

Iris Moss Gel – Softening and Soothing

Lemon Oil – Cleansing and Uplifting

Fine Sea Salt – Mineral Rich

So.. I didn’t buy this for me. Just as well because my scalp HATED it. It was itchy straight after I washed it. One tiny little scratch and my hairline looked like a snow storm.  Back in the shower…

But as I said I didn’t buy it for me. The lady in the shop recommended it for Dreadlocks. Well, you have to get your other half something right? It helps to soften the blow when you tell them how much you spent.

He prefers natural, organic products that don’t leave any residue. We’ve ticked all those boxes by just buying from Lush. He used the  bar straight on his scalp and a little down the length on the dreads, Good scrub and a long, long rinse.

The first thing we both noticed was how clear and hydrated his scalp was! It had already made a difference. His hair was fresh and clean without any sticky residue left on the dreads. What else is there to say. I hated it, he LOVED it!

Damaged Hot Oil Treatment

File 02-09-2017, 18 46 30

£6.50

Organic Avocado – Rich and Conditioning

Extra Virgin Olive Oil – Moisturising and Protecting

So who hasn’t damaged their hair through excessive bleaching and use of heat with straighteners and tongs. My hair really does need all the help it can get. This treatment promises to moisturise and help to strengthen.

Its a one use pre-shampoo product that you need to activate with water. All you need to do is add hot water and stir.

Wait for it to cool to a comfortable temperature and apply to dry hair.

File 02-09-2017, 21 07 10

After about 20 mins shampoo and condition hair. I didn’t use all the product so I put the lid on and it will keep for up to 4 weeks.

It was really easy to rinse out of my hair. I noticed while I was drying it how soft it was. It was a lot less tangled on my more damaged bits of hair then it is usually is.

My hair felt Amazing.. I could not stop touching it all day. It had a faint smell to it and was super soft and shiny.. soo shiny. My scalp feels good. Its not tight and itchy.  Even after a few washes it felt really soft.

I really liked this. I would get it again and use after I have had it coloured. Cant wait to try their other treatments

Foot Soak And Fancy Free

File 30-08-2017, 16 47 57.jpeg

£3.95

Sea Salt – Rich in Minerals

Irish Moss Powder – Conditioning and Softening.

French Lavender oil – Calming and softening.

There is nothing worse then wearing pretty shoes that show hard skin build up on your heels. I hate it. So its essential you have regular pedicures to keep feet looking their best.

Find a bowl that will fit both your feet in then add water. You want the water to be at a temperature you can relax in. Find a good vlog/programme you can watch then add the foot soak. I broke it up so it would dissolve quicker.

File 30-08-2017, 17 17 16.jpeg

Its definitely relaxing. Perfect excuse to do nothing.

After about 5 mins take out one foot at a time and use a foot file on areas that need it. Put feet back in for as long as the water is warm. Once finished pat feet dry.

My feet are so soft! Im not saying its going to magically remove your hard skin build up but it will help by softening the skin making it easier to remove.

Its a good product for a bit of home pampering and it does everything it promises. I wouldn’t say it would be a new essential to my beauty treatment collection but well worth trying.

Golden Handshake Hand Treatment

File 02-09-2017, 21 35 01.jpeg

£2.95

Organic Avocado – Rich and Conditioning

Rosewood Oil – Anti septic and Up Lifting

Murumuru Butter – Protective and Moisturising

Argan Oil – Repairing and a Antioxident

This is another water activated treatment product. Designed to hydrated dry, hard working hands. I don’t really look after my hands. so they could do with a little pampering.

File 08-09-2017, 18 27 11.jpeg

Find a bowl big enough to fit both hands, add enough hot water to cover the product and stir until its a smooth, thick and creamy consistency. Like with the other products wait until its cooled to a comfortable temperature then sit back and relax…

Before you rinse off massage into hands.

My hands felt lovely and soft and stayed like it for a few days.

So This was my least favourite product. It was nice enough and my hands did feel lovely but, Im just not sure its a product I would use again.

Bunny Moon – Jelly face mask

File 02-09-2017, 21 40 23

£6.95

Honey – Antiseptic and Moisturising

Rose oil – To Balance and Restore

As I mentioned before I love the fresh face masks So im really looking forward to trying one of the jelly masks. I picked bunny moon as this one softens and moisturises.

Take a little product and work a little with your fingers to a paste. Apply to face and leave for 10 mins.

The first time I used this I wet my hands first. BIG mistake!

Its got a nice subtle smell of Turkish delight. Once you’ve worked it a little it becomes a smooth thick paste which is easy to apply. Because its a thick paste you need a face cloth to take it off with.

My face is really soft and hydrated.  This is really good for dehydrated skin. My dry,  patches of skin on my cheeks and nose have gone. I use it a least once a week and the patches havn’t come back since. I wouldn’t say its my favourite Lush mask but there are so many . Just not sure which one to try next…

So thats what I thought. Any recomendations? let me know if you’ve tried any and what you think of them

Whats the best self tanner?

So lets talk tanning.

For many, laying in the sun all day getting a gorgeous goddess tan is the highlight of summer. For me, I couldn’t think of anything worse. I hate the thought of sitting in the sun cooking and am far to scared of the health implications. For me self tanning is a much better option. Long gone are the orange, over the top tans that leave dirty marks everywhere you sit. Over the years the tans have got better. There is a brand to suit every budget with endless options of what form they come in. The most talked about is without a doubt Skinny Tan

It First became popular in Australia then, after an appearance on Dragons den they became a huge success in the UK . They say they are the first self tanner that combines a natural tanning active with a naturally derived skin soothing actives to tan, contour and reduce the visible appearance of cellulite. Streak, Paraben and cruelty free.

There is a product to suit everyone. 7 day tanners, gradual tanners, oils and mousse.

Pre Tan Primer

File 10-07-2017, 23 15 17.jpeg

£9.99

125ml

Crushed walnut primer is a light cream based body scrub which helps to remove dead skin cells. Its a nice texture, not to grainy.  I used this with the exfoliating mitt, and WOW! I am silky smooth.

File 10-07-2017, 23 18 42.jpeg

£7.99

Brown side is for a gentle pre-tan exfoliation removing the dull dead skins cells, allowing the tan to go on smoother and help the tan last longer. The orange side is to remove excess tanning from palms, ankles, knees and elbows.

Before you use the mitt rinse and dry it and make sure you exfoliate a few hours before tanning. You don’t want to be doing it just before.

I apply the Pre-tanner directly onto my skin then buff with the brown side of the mitt in circular motions. Paying particular attention to areas like elbows and knees. Its not too scratchy and its not making my skin all red and sore looking.

Again,  wow! The mitt and scrub together are the best things I’ve used for exfoliating.

A few hours after my tanning im ready for the

Express Tan Mousse.

File 12-07-2017, 20 05 08

I picked this product over the other tanners in the skinny range because its the quickest.

Leave it on between 1-3 hours depending on how dark you want your tan. I’m only going to leave it on an hour… I’m too impatient!

Initially the colour of the mousse is very dark, but the tan has an instant bronzer so you can..

1- go out with the tanner on.. why not? especially if your using the other tanning products in the range which take longer to develop

2- it helps you to see exactly where you have applied. Which means no random white patches making it obvious you have used a self tanning product.

So, I give the bottle a little shake and apply directly onto the tanning mitt. Starting with my legs (Don’t worry the Skinny tan site has a tutorial). When it comes to my feet I don’t add extra mousse. I use whatever is left over. then I work my way up. Same rule applies to hands as it does feet. Make sure you can see in a mirror while putting on your tan. It helps to make sure you have covered everywhere especially your back. It goes on quickly and effortlessly thanx to the amazing mitt.

I used a little on my face. I blobbed it on like you would a  foundation, and blended into my hair line, ears and down onto my neck. Thats it. maybe took 15/20mins to apply. Like I said before it was so easy to apply. The tan doesn’t have a chemical smell you expect from fake tans instead it smells like coconut.

The bronzer in the tan is not too dark. it gives your skin a lovely glow I would be happy to go out like this. It dries on pretty quick, Its a little tacky but nothing transfers off.

Tan mitt £4.99

This velvet, double sided mitt is as amazing as the exfoliating mitt.

Its super soft, and applies the mousse effortlessly. It didn’t seep through onto my hands as it sooo thick! After you have used it you can put it in the washing machine and use it like new the next time.

So an hour later i’m ready to rinse. I jump in the shower and the tanner rinses straight off. Pat dry, apply after glow gloss and all done.

The After Glow gloss

File 12-07-2017, 21 50 41

£9.99

125ml

It gives your skin a dewy finish. A little goes a long way. Its not an essential product but keeps the skin looking and feeling amazing!

3 word to describe how I feel about skinny tan…I LOVE IT. it’s a subtle healthy looking tan. Not orange, not streaky just a beautiful natural looking tan. You have full control of how dark it is depending on how long you leave it on for.  My knees, elbows feet and hands have blended well, there really is no reason why you wouldn’t think this is a natural tan. I would feel confidant leaving it on longer and having a slightly deeper looking tan.

So I realise now it really would of been better to do a before and after but whats the point on an after shot without a before? I will edit the post next time I tan

Over the week, the tan gradually fades. Its not patchy at all it just fades.

Sheet masks under £5 any good?

As always when you walk into a drugstore/department store your overwhelmed by the choice. It becomes hard to make a decision as they all promise to.. well they all promise the same thing don’t they. Unless you know exactly what your looking for it becomes a long task. Reading the same thing over and over again while your other half stands next to you waiting for you to make a decision… The pressure!!

Sheet masks originated in Asia and have become popular in all cosmetics/department stores. Cloth /paper is soaked in a serum or cream and is individually wrapped. You apply to face for 15-20 min and take off. No rinsing or applying moisturiser after. Quick and effective.

I am obsessed with skincare so , ive tried a few. some ive loved and some have been a waste of time so  I have done a little review of a few all under a fiver

YesTo

File 02-07-2017, 15 25 25.jpeg
Detoxifying Charcoal Paper mask
£2.99
1 use sheet mask
I have used some of the yesto range before. The brand promises they use a minimum of 95% natural ingredients without silicones SLS and Parabans. To read some more about the other YesTo products I used click here.
The charcoal based sheet mask promises to detoxify and clean pores.

As with all types of face mask they need to be applied to make up free, clean dry skin. I used this mask in the evening, before bed.

It was soaked in product and stuck to my face nicely, enough so I could walk around without it slipping off. It does warn on the packaging it will tingle, if its too much take it off. left it on about 15 mins, I didn’t notice any tingling.
After I took the mask off I massaged the left over product in, as you do with all sheet masks. If I am honest, I wasn’t expecting much of a difference but, WOW I was wrong.
My skin looked amazing after. More hydrated, toned and clearer.
The next morning my make up went on smoother which made it last a little longer while complexion stayed clear and bright. I also noticed I used less foundation then I would usually.

Overall I love this mask. As part of a weekly facial or before you put your make up on. After using this mask I wouldn’t use a heavy coverage foundation. L’oreal  Nude Magique Cushion was perfect. Enough coverage with a dewy finish. Together making my skin look smooth, clear and hydrated. For £2.99 its cheap enough to be able to use once a week/couple of weeks. Without a doubt something i will use again

While on the subject of Yesto…

Buh Bye Dark Circles Under Eye Mask

File 14-05-2017, 17 40 35

£4.99

As I have mentioned before I have used a few of YesTo products. If you have already seen my Yes To – Product Review you will know what I think of these. And it was not good. A waste of money as far as im concerned. The under eye masks were so dry I couldn’t get them to stick. I got so frustrated with them they went in the bin. If you have tried these let me know what you think. Did I just so happen to get a dodgy one?? -Really dont like this product.

Sephora Collection Sheet Mask

File 05-07-2017, 16 46 42.jpeg
About £5
There are 8 different collection masks available. Each mask has an exotic active ingredient with different skin care benefits. Without Parabans and another company who proudly don’t test on animals.
My favourite 2 are the Pearl and Rose sheet masks.
They promises to perfect and brighten creating a high luminosity and visibaly minimised irregularities.

I love the Sephora masks. They are drenched in product and stay on great. After the recommended time my skin looks clear, smooth and hydrated. Again they are great under make up. The luminosity is not masked by make up. It just gives a lovely dewy finish. Which,  is always perfect in the summer to get the goddess glow. Like the YesTo mask I prefer the l’oreal lighter coverage over these masks. As they even my skin so well I dont need a heavier coverage. I found with the Sephora masks, the results last a couple of days. After ive taken my make up off with facewipes, cleanser and toner my skin still looked hydrated, smooth and glowing. Not as much as when I first used it but it has amazingly lasted longer then other sheet masks I have used.  These would also be great if your going away on holiday. After sitting on the beach all day tanning you need to keep your skin hydrated. It will stop you from peeling and will help your tan to last longer. There is enough serum left in the packet to use as a moisturiser for a few days. So you will  have beautiful glowing  healthy looking skin in the evenings . They are slim light weight packages… A must for holiday

The only thing I don’t like about these masks was that with them being Sephora, you can only get them online. I prefer going into a shop rather then ordering on line.

Boots Ingredients

File 05-07-2017, 17 33 25.jpeg

£2.50

Charcoal & Willow cleansing and Purifying

Just like all the other masks, it was drenched in product. once unwrapped and put on my face it stayed on well. No tingling sensation just refreshing. I’ll be honest this was not as good as the YesTo purifying mask. My skin looked well hydrated but I cant say it was actually clearer.  I used the mask after a shower before bed. The next morning it just looked normal. There were dry patches where I usually would have them so it had not hydrated as well as I thought it had.

So this is not a mask i would be buying again. I did pic another sheet mask from this range

Lotus Flower and Tiger lily, For Radiance and Brightening.

I liked this one. I used it after a shower and before I put make up on.

It was nice on, lots of product and refreshing for the morning. After I had taken it off my skin looked great. Bright, even and clear. I used a heavier coverage foundation this time. My skin looked nice, I still used less product as with the other masks. Once my make was done my skin looked healthy and glowing. This mask did not last very long. When I took my make up off it didnt seem as bright or glowing, or the next morning. But they are £2.50!!

Garnier Moisture Bomb Tissue mask

File 05-07-2017, 19 09 51.jpeg

£2.99

Super hydrating, revitalising tissue mask.

So Garnier are promising a weeks worth of hydration with this one. Made with pomegranate, hyaluronic acid and plant serum.

When you take it out the packet it feels a little slimey. I instantly didnt think I would like this one. It stayed on fine and I left it on half hour. Im just not in love with it… I dont think my skin looked amazing after. Not a weeks worth of hydration in one hit. I know its only cheap but there are far better masks to use for the same price. I used the mask  before bed, expecting my skin to look great in the morning. And it honestly looked the same as any other morning. Maybe its better to use before you apply make up, like a primer. But I won’t be using it again to find out!

So my overall favourites were the Sephora Masks and the Charcoal based YesTo Mask. I really felt they had made a difference to my skin. I would get them again. Especially the Yes To mask. Easily accessible and cheap.

But let me know if you have tried the YesTo undereye mask. I would love to know what you thought!

Low -Shampoo, worth the hype?

Its not gone un-noticed that l’oreal are killing it in drugstore hair/skincare and make up products. And Its no surprise as L’Oreal is the largest company and owns more then 20 brands. Some of them brands include NYX, URBAN DECAY and YSL. So when L’Oreal launch a new product, its usually worth a try.
And one of last years launch was LOW SHAMPOO.
So what is LOW SHAMPOO and is it really worth the hype?
Most shampoos contain Sodium Lauryl Sulphate. The purpose of this chemical is to remove oils and help the product to foam. Its not only in shampoos, it is also found in skincare products like face or body washes. Although Sulphate is commonly used, over time it can cause more damage then good. It can cause your hair colour to fade and over time can strip your hair of natural oils causing breakage.
So L’Oreal introduced 3 products in their low shampoo range
– Colour Protect
– Extraordinary Oil
– Extraordinary oil curl

File 21-06-2017, 19 10 38

£6.99 – 400 ml
Beacause there is no foaming, your not rubbing at your hair which, can cause breakage. Anyone who has over processed their hair with excessive colouring knows shampooing your hair in this state is a nerve wrecking experience. It causes so much breakage and combing your hair after is a mine field. You feel like there is more hair wrapped around the combs teeth then there is on your head.
My hair is long with natural roots and mid lengths. The ends are bleached and damaged. I also have a sensitive scalp and course textured hair. So my ideal shampoo needs to nourish my lengths while being kind enough to not irritate my scalp. I usually wash my hair about  3-4 times a week.
I choose the Extraordinary oil as it promises gentle cleansing, easy detangling anti breakage and nourishment.
L’oreal recommend you:
evenly apply 10-15 pumps on wet hair, and massage in.
leave on 3mins
rinse thouroughly, combing through with your fingers.
Its not intended to completly replace your normal shampoo and conditoning routine but to use a few times a week to help improve your hair instead of your usual shampoo/cond routine
I just have to say 10-15 pumps!!!!!! how much? I know we all like to slap on the conditioner but 10-15 pumps?
ok .. we shall see.
so here’s how it went.

File 21-06-2017, 19 10 16.jpeg
I thoroughly wet my hair in the shower and start dispensing a few pumps into my hand. Its looks and feels like a conditioner. I evenly coat my hair and I used maybe 8-10 pumps? I gently massaged it in and left it on for 3 mins.

It is a much quicker hair washing routine. I didn’t use any conditioner just to see how it felt.

Rinsing it off felt lovely. I have to say it already feels mush softer, so I am secretly expecting to be amazed.

Drying my hair was just so easy. No tangles,  my brush just glided through my hair as I was drying it. It feels so lovely. My hair is actually shinny and I hadn’t been able to stop touching it. My hair feels clean and my scalp doesn’t feel tight and itchy like it can do after washing. So far I love it!

Even the next day I am surprised how nice it feels. In fact I’ve been using it ever since.

I love it. I love how quick it is to wash as im only applying 1 product(rather then a shampoo and a conditioner) My hair is now shiny and manageable. I have also noticed how much better my scalp is. Its not as tight, itchy and flakey like it usually is. I have not stopped recommending it to people.

I still use ‘normal’ shampoo once a week with a protein or moisture mask but it is my go to shampoo now.

If you have coloured hair I would recommend the colour protect low shampoo.

Well done L’Oreal, another amazing product.

Have you used this low shampoo and what did you think?

XxX

Yes To – Product Review

oh look a skincare range I haven’t tried before. Among all the other products on the shelves, this range stands out.  And if you’ve read my other blog’s you’ll know i’m a sucker for a new skin care range.  This range promises they use minimum of 95% natural ingredients of high quality without the use of silicone’s , SLS and Parabens. Sadly Boots does not stock their full range, so I had a look on line to see what they offer and there is a lot more then I expected. The have broken it down into 6 sub ranges:

Carrots, for normal to dry skin / hair

Blueberries, for mature skin to correct fine lines, wrinkles and signs of aging

Tomatoes, for combination or oily skin to detoxify and minimise breakouts

Grapefruit, for uneven skin tone. Diminishes appearance of  dark spots and hyper pigmentation

Coconut, for dry skin and hair. To hydrate

Cucumber for sensitive skin. Hypoallergenic and dermatologist tested

As I said boots don’t hold a large range so excitedly i pick up one of each mask, here’s what i thought…

All About Face

File 14-05-2017, 17 12 37.jpeg

Refine pores and even skin tone with grapefruit and vitamin C.

£4.99

So this is a 2 step treatment, a facial scrub and a brightening peel mask. When you open it there is a fresh grapefruit smell. Its not very overpowering which I like. The first thing I  notice is how much product is in the little packet. There is enough product to use it twice. With all scrubs I try them on the back of my hand first. Its very important your facial scrub is not to gritty,  this can cause damage to your skin.  The grit in this scrub is very fine so I apply to clean damp skin and gently exfoliate using small circular motions.  Rinse off with plenty of clean warm water.

I did like it. My face feels cleaner and looks a lot brighter. so far so good, now for step 2.

Again there is a lot of product in the packet definitely enough for 2 applications and smells lovely. Its slightly yellow? not thick like a cream more of a thinner gel like consistency but not sticky. I left it on for 10 mins while I had a bath and didn’t notice any stinging or tingling. Skincare really shouldn’t be making your skin feel like its burning  (I’ve experienced that a few  times..Superdrug Face Mask Review ) The mask was pretty easy to get off. No mess, no fuss but I did expect it to peel off. That really is just because it said brightening peel?

For £4.99 I would use it again. There was a lot of product, enough for 2 applications and my skin did feel clearer and brighter.

Buh Bye Clogged Pores Nose Kit

IMG_8231£4.99

2 step nose kit contains a cotton swab to apply the face scrub and a pore removing strip.

we’ve all used the pore strips before. but I always find that the skin on my nose peels for days after using them so I usually stay away from anything like it. but in the name of research, I am willing to try this one.

Again there is a lot of product. At least enough for 2 applications. If im honest it doesn’t feel like the scrub is really doing much. I get the idea of it. It will remove any dead skin cells making it easier for the pore strip to work, to remove whatever is clogging my pores on my nose. But we shall see.

So the strip is on, pretty easy just got to wait.

After 10 mins I remove the strip, don’t worry its not too bad, its not like the black mask fails that have been doing the rounds on social media.

wordpressuploads_02

As you can see from the pictures it did remove some stuff  that has been clogging my pores. And this has been the only pore strip that doesn’t leave me with dry flaky skin for days. Would I get it again? erm… Well… Your really paying £4.99 for a one use pore strip. It didn’t unclog all my pores but it did remove some gunk. But £4.99 each?

Buh ByeBags And Dark Circles

File 14-05-2017, 17 40 35.jpeg

Cucumber, caffiene and Evodia fruit

£4.99

So this maybe the shortest review I have done on a product…

What a load of crap that I wasted a fiver on.

Where to start… the paper eye masks, are they supposed to be bone dry? which way do they go on? Are they supposed to stick? these are the questions I was asking myself. I didn’t last the 10 mins they suggest. They went in the bin.

lets try the cream. Smells refreshing i’m optimistic cucumber is good for the eyes!

So I rub a small amount in using my ring finger. Its important you don’t use too much pressure as the eye area is very delicate.

I potter around waiting for the cream to absorb and banish my puffiness under my eyes.

After about 10 mins I return to the mirror to continue with my make up routine and whats staring back at me in the mirror MORE PUFFINESS, who the hell pays for puffier eyes? It looks like I’ve spent the last few hours crying. Crying that I just wasted a fiver on this! I go back and forth between reading the back of the pack and looking at my PUFFY eyes.  And yep, they definitely look worse. Has any one used this before..? let me know what you thought of this. Is it just me?  SO I wont be paying for puffier eyes again.

Pucker up lip kit

File 14-05-2017, 17 50 39.jpeg

Coconut, Sugar and Sodium Hyaluronate

£4.99

This 2 part lip kit is a little like the eye kit. Instead of a cream there is a sugar based lip scrub and a paper mask for your lips. Hopefully this paper mask will be a bit easier to use.

Step 1- I loved this. Not too harsh to exfoliate lips with, slight coconut smell and wasn’t too greasy. My lips look lovely and even, no dry patches. And like all the others there is soo much product in this little packet. If they sell this online I will order it now (Too impatient, couldn’t wait. Just checked, they don’t)

File 14-05-2017, 17 49 57

The paper mask was a lot better then the eye mask. This one is drenched in product, now i’m optimistic

So it goes on and stays on fine!

It didn’t really tingle like I expected it to, I didn’t really feel anything. Everytime I looked in the mirror the lip mask was where i put it. No slipping, no peeling off.

After 10 mins I take off the paper mask and rub in any excess serum on my lips.  My lips did look softer, smoother and a little more plump after using the scrub and paper mask but it is only a 1 use.  I think if im honest there are other products available that perhaps last a little longer and are easy to re-apply.

so overall… I would purchase scrubs from this range. Facial scrub or lip scrub. I like they use mostly natural ingredients without many harmful chemicals oh and the pore strip was good but I cant imagine them becoming my ‘cant live without skin’ products..

If you’ve used them or any other products in the range let me know what you thought of them. Until then, on with the search for the best skincare range…

Easy Steps To Acne Fighting, Wrinkle Smoothing Facial.

Anyone who has been to salon to have facial knows how amazing they are.If you havn’t had 1 already …YOU NEED TO!! Not only do you come out feeling super relaxed but your skin looks amazing! Its fresher, clearer and glowing. If you have ever had micro-dermabrasion you will totally understand when I say it takes years off! The only problem is, its another expense to add to all the little things we like to treat ourselves to every month. Don’t worry. Its all totally achievable at home. You may have the products or might find them in the kitchen cupboard. I’ve also added my favorite products that are easily accessible if your looking for good products on a budget.

I give my self a facial once a week. It helps to maintain a healthy glowing complexion and will ease acne. It will also alleviate the tension build up which can help to cause fine lines and wrinkles. However,  it can also have a negative effect if you do them to often. Stripping the natural oils from your skin can increase sebum production and dehydrate your skin. Dehydrated skin can be itchy and can cause problems when applying make up.

So firstly, you need to remove all your make up. I would use a face wipe then use the wash to ensure all oil and make up remover residue is not sitting on the surface of you skin.

.Facial Wash/Cleanser

file-29-01-2017-16-59-03

Boots Tea Tree and Witch HazelFoam Face Wash

I’ve been using this face wash a while now. Its quick and easy to use and ideal for using daily. Its not going to remove your make up, but I would use after I have used a face wipe/makeup remover.

Lush 9-5 is a great cleanser to use if you would prefer.Again this is not the best product to use to remove make up but its amazing. Massage into skin and remove with cotton pads.

Steaming

File 29-01-2017, 17 03 09.jpeg

Facial steamers are cheap and easy to pick up they usually come with an attachment which you would use to concentrate on your nose. Facial steamers are great but they are not necessary. You can do the same with a bowl filled with hot water (needs to be hot enough to have steam) and a towel. Half fill your bowl with water (I boil the kettle and use that) lean over and put towel over you and the bowl. Just chill for 10 mins or as long as you can manage. If your leaning over a bowl rather then having your face in the steamer I would recommend you pop into Lush and pick up a Tea Tree Tab. They are only £1 and a skincare must have. Its perfect for acne. Tea Tree is a natural antiseptic so will help to fight the bacteria that can cause acne. Read my  little review here.

Gently steaming your face helps to soften the layer of dead skin cells which is clogging your skin.It  will open the pores which in turn will help release toxins, enhance blood circulation and allow other products to become absorbed and do their job properly.

Exfoliate

LushPic

Exfoliating the skin is another important essential with skincare. Gently scrubbing your face aids desquamation. It removes the dead skin cells that are making your skin look dull and tired. If you have angry, sore acne I would not advise exfoliating or avoid the area if its limited.

One of my favourite Face scrubs is Lush Dark Angels. Read about it Here.

Rolled oats are perfect as a Natural alternative and are ideal for mild acne or sensitive skin. Mix you oats with Manuka Honey ,  Raspberries ,  Blueberries the list is endless or even add a few drops of TeaTree to help it fight the acne causing bacteria like I said earlier.

As with all scrubs apply to skin and massage in circular movements. Don’t for get lips aswel! Rinse off with plenty of warm water.

Steam

I know we have already done it, and it really is not necessary to steam again but I do for a few minutes. If you have sensitive skin maybe skip this part.

file-29-01-2017-18-35-25

If you want to use Pore Clearing strips to remove blackheads (mostly common on your nose) now would be the time. You skin, well your nose really has been steamed and scrubbed so they will remove much easier now. Follow the instructions on the strips.

Face Mask

File 03-06-2016, 23 18 17

Now that the skin has been cleaned, steamed and scrubbed we can now relax a little with a face mask.

I do like sheet masks but I prefer face mask you leave on for facials. I feel they work better at removing any impurities.

As with all masks apply even amount, sit back and relax…

There are so many masks you can choose from. If you don’t have a favorite I would recommend

L’oreal Clay Mask (read about it here )

file-16-10-2016-16-41-08

Or read my Lush Fresh Mask Review.

For Natural and Organic Masks you can make your self, have a read through my previous blog posts. My favourite Oraganic DIY mask is Manuka Honey

Once you’ve rinsed your mask off gently pat dry.

Moisturise

file-29-01-2017-20-13-37

Its important to keep your skin hydrated. Moisturiser is something you should be using daily. Cream or oil based does not matter as long as you are using the best for your skin type. When you apply you should be massaging it in. It takes a few minutes but massaging will not only improve blood circulation but the massage will relax tightened muscles in your face. Tense muscles lead to more deeper lines and wrinkles.

Spend about 5 minutes using a combination of light tapping and small circular movements. I’m using BioOil at the moment. Using Daily can help to reduce acne scars, and fine lines and wrinkles.

They you are.  The same process as you would get in the salon but obviously not as relaxing as your having to do it yourself.  You skin will look fresher and more radiant as you have removed all the dead skin cells and impurities and re hydrated your skin. To maintain a weekly facial can be hard with our busy lives but it is essential to skin care. The more you do it the more you will benefit.

There are plenty of skin care recommendations on my other blog posts, check them out or late me know any products you think are essential.
